Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Easy Wake is made by me, Tom Redway (Thomas Redway on the App Store), an independent developer based in the UK. This policy covers the Easy Wake app for iPhone and Apple Watch, and this website.
The short version
- Your alarms, schedules, sleep data and health data stay on your devices, with one exception below. I never receive them.
- The exception is Intelligent Insights, a Pro feature. It can send your sleep data to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute for analysis. That data goes to Apple, not to me.
- There are no accounts, adverts, tracking or third-party analytics.
- Anything you post on the in-app feedback board can be seen by other Easy Wake users, along with your device model and software version.
Data that stays on your devices
Easy Wake has no servers of its own, and the app doesn’t send your data to me. It asks for these permissions, which you can change at any time in the Settings app. Features that rely on a permission stop working without it.
- Apple Health (read only). Sleep stages, heart rate, resting heart rate and heart rate variability, for Smart Wake, Smart Sleep, sleep schedules and Insights. Easy Wake doesn’t add to or change your Health data.
- Motion. For Smart Wake, sleep schedules and Challenge Wake.
- Location. For location alarms, sunrise times and themes. Your most recent location is saved in the app and shared with your Apple Watch. The map in location alarms is provided by Apple.
- Camera. For the Barcode and Walk Away challenges. The camera feed is processed live, and no photos or video are saved or sent anywhere. The barcode you choose is saved in the app as a code.
- Home. To trigger your HomeKit scenes from alarms.
- Alarms and notifications. To ring your alarms and send you reminders.
Easy Wake also stores these in the app, and shares what it needs between your iPhone and Apple Watch:
- your alarms, schedules, timers and settings
- your Sleep Feeling logs
- any custom sounds you import
- a diagnostic log, kept for two weeks, which only leaves your device if you choose to share it with me
You can also use your alarms with Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight, which are provided by Apple. Device backups, including iCloud Backup, can include Easy Wake’s data, and are handled by Apple under your own account.
To remove this data from your devices, delete Easy Wake from your iPhone and Apple Watch. This doesn’t affect anything in Apple Health.
Intelligent Insights and Private Cloud Compute
Intelligent Insights is a Pro feature that uses Apple Intelligence to analyse your sleep and suggest improvements. It only runs if you have Easy Wake Pro, your device supports it, and you have sleep data. It starts automatically when you open the Insights tab, and does more when you open the Intelligent Insights screen.
It runs in one of two places:
- Apple Private Cloud Compute. On iOS 27 and later, where Apple makes it available, your data is sent to Apple’s servers, analysed, and the result is sent back.
- On your device. Otherwise Easy Wake uses Apple’s on-device model, and your data doesn’t leave your device.
The analysis can use the following, from up to about three weeks of recent nights:
- dates, bedtimes, wake times and how long you slept
- sleep stages, sleep scores, how long you took to fall asleep and how often you woke
- your average and lowest heart rate while asleep, resting heart rate and heart rate variability
- your sleep goal, and your scheduled bedtime and wake time
- how often you snoozed, how long it took you to stop your alarm, and your wake-up streak
- your Sleep Feeling ratings and the words you chose, such as “groggy” or “stressed”
It doesn’t include your name, your location or the names of your alarms.
This data goes to Apple, never to me. Apple says that data sent to Private Cloud Compute is used only to fulfil your request, isn’t kept once the response is returned, and isn’t available to Apple, even to its own staff.
There isn’t a separate switch for this in Easy Wake yet. To stop it, cancel Pro or remove Easy Wake’s access to your sleep data in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Health. Removing that access also stops Smart Wake and the other features that rely on it.
Feedback board
Provide Feedback, in the app’s Settings, opens a board where you can report bugs and request features. Using it is optional. It runs on CloudKit, Apple’s iCloud service, in a database I control. You don’t create an account, and I don’t receive your name or email address.
What other Easy Wake users can see:
- the title and description of your requests, and your replies
- up to three images per request, once I’ve reviewed them
- your device model, operating system, platform, app version and build number
- your votes and the category of any report you make, neither of which contains any text
What only you and I can see:
- the requests you follow
- how many alarms, schedules, schedule groups, location alarms and timers you have, which the app shows you before you post and lets you turn off
Everything you do on the board is linked by an ID tied to your iCloud account. That ID doesn’t show who you are, but it does link your activity together, so the board is pseudonymous rather than anonymous. Please don’t include your name, health details or anything else personal in your posts or images.
I use this information to fix bugs, decide what to build next and moderate the board, which can mean hiding or removing posts. The app can also notify you about activity on your requests, using Apple’s push notification service.
Your posts stay on the board until you or I delete them. To delete them, open Provide Feedback, tap My requests, then tap Delete my requests, replies and reports. This also removes the requests you follow. Votes on other people’s requests aren’t included, but you can withdraw a vote from the request itself.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple, and I never see your payment details. The app only checks whether you have Pro. Apple sends me sales reports that don’t include your name or contact details.
Crash reports and usage statistics
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple sends me crash reports and usage statistics that don’t include your name or contact details. You can change this in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
Emailing me
If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you send. I use it to reply to you and keep it only as long as I need it to help you. My email is provided by Apple.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. It’s hosted on Firebase Hosting, run by Google, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the site secure. Links to the App Store take you to Apple’s website, where Apple’s privacy policy applies.
Who else is involved
I don’t sell your data, share it for advertising or use it to track you. Apple and Google process data as described above, under their own privacy policies, and may do so outside the UK. The only third party that receives data from the app is Apple, which provides the same or equal protection of your data as this policy. I’d only share anything else if the law required me to.
Your rights
I’m the data controller for the feedback board and for emails you send me, and I rely on my legitimate interests in running and improving Easy Wake to use that data.
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or get a copy of this data, and you can object to or restrict how I use it. Email me and I’ll reply within one month. I can’t look you up by name, so I may need you to point me to your posts.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by changing Easy Wake’s permissions in the Settings app, and you can delete what you’ve posted on the feedback board yourself.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
Easy Wake is rated 4+ on the App Store, but the feedback board isn’t intended for children under 13. If you think a child has posted on it, email me and I’ll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
